ABOUT ME

Physics with a focus on meaningful learning and materials research.

Dr. Parameswara P is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at The National Institute of Engineering (NIE), Mysuru, where he has been associated with the institution since 2015.

He completed his Ph.D. from the University of Mysore and holds an M.Sc. in Physics from Bangalore University. His academic career combines undergraduate engineering-physics education, laboratory instruction, student mentoring, academic administration and research in functional materials and nanoscience.

His research interests are centred on the development, characterization and application of functional nanomaterials, particularly through environmentally conscious and sustainable approaches. His areas of interest include green synthesis, photocatalysis, electrochemical sensing and materials characterization.

As a teacher, he emphasizes conceptual clarity, visualization, experimentation and application-oriented learning. His teaching approach connects fundamental physical principles with engineering applications and contemporary technologies.

06

Student Development

Interest in experiential learning, digital academic resources and activities that encourage students to question, explore and learn independently.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

Understand → Visualize → Apply

Physics education should go beyond memorizing equations. Students are encouraged to understand the physical concept, visualize the phenomenon through diagrams, demonstrations or simulations, and connect it to engineering applications.

Particular emphasis is placed on conceptual clarity, mathematical understanding, physical interpretation, experimental verification, problem-solving, data analysis and independent learning.

BEYOND PHYSICS

Music, Creativity & Life Beyond the Classroom

Academic life is enriched by interests that encourage creativity, observation and a different way of seeing the world.

A space for music and creativity

Beyond teaching and research, music is an important personal interest. Time spent listening to and engaging with music offers a creative balance to academic work.

This photograph captures that personal side—exploring music at the keyboard in a dedicated creative space.
